Michael Landy

Landy has produced a lithograph with spot varnish, on a heavy weight card. The image speaks for itself, and indeed Landy had no statement to make about the print apart from commenting that he didn't own a pair of
white socks. Landy graduated from Goldsmiths in 1988, having been inspired to take up art professionally after having a picture selected for display on the BBC television art program Take Hart.
He was part of the YBA generation that created the Freeze exhibition. Landy gained fame with several large solo shows, Market and Scrap Heap Services, which like much of his work comments on consumerism and society.  His 2004 commission for the Turbine Hall was a replication of his Parents home- entitled Semi-detached.  Landy was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Arts in 2008. Recent shows include 2017 Sperone Westwater Gallery, New York,  DEMONSTRATION, The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto, Canada, and the Tinguely Museum, Basel, Switzerland.
